There was gridlock, and one closure, on four of the area's major roadways as drivers hit the roadways on the eve of July 4th.
A crash caused the closure of a stretch of the Saw Mill River Parkway near the border of Mount Kisco and Chappaqua. The crash, reported just before 5:30 p.m., occurred southbound between Route 133/Main Street and Roaring Brook Road.
The roadway has reopened.
A crash reported around the same time involving an overturned vehicle blocked two lanes, reducing traffic to a crawl on northbound I-684 between Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah and Route 22/Route 138 in Goldens Bridge (Exit 6A).
The lanes have reopened.
Farther north, the right lane was blocked on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge after a crash reported just after 5 p.m.
The lane has reopened.
There were stop-and-go delays on northbound Route 22 at Route 54 in Brewster, with delays to Sodom Road/Old Milltown Road following a 5 pm. crash.
